The New Year is filled with gym aspirations, which is why it’s important that we talk about how sneak 100 ounces of water into your day. Water is the most important fluid in our bodies, comprising about 60% of them. When we work out, sweat, etc., we are losing some of this water. We have to constantly replace it.
Without enough water, we put ourselves at risk for dehydration, cramping, toxin build up, and just an overall lack of energy. Drinking water has many benefits. Water hydrates and clears our skin, helps with hair growth, assists with weight loss, and energizes us, to name a few. Below are some tips to help you sneak the recommended 100 ounces of water into your day!
1. Sneak water into your day with tea
Tea is a water-based drink that normally has other vitamins, minerals, and herbs for nutrition. It can either be caffeinated or decaffeinated to start or end your day. Also, tea can be cold or hot to fit whatever weather is outside.
You can sneak water into your day by drinking a 10 oz. tea. With that drink, you have knocked out that much of your water total while also pumping your body full of the other nutritious contents of tea. Avoid adding a lot of sugar/sweetener for a healthy, low-calorie drink. If you drink one in the morning and at night, that’s already 20 oz. of water added to your total!
Currently, I start my mornings with the Arbonne Herbal Detox tea sold to me by my individual consultant, Tiffany Brunner. I don’t receive any kickback from this post, but wanted to help spread the word about her awesome product that starts me off on the right foot!
2. Water-based protein or meal replacement shake
I am quite the fan of protein shakes. That’s normally how I start my mornings, with a nice 8 oz. shake. They are also great for post-workout drinks. The best part about them, is that many of them are made with water. That means that you can take your 8 oz. of water and add them to your shake. If you decide to double up, then that means you have 16 oz. of water to add to your daily total.
I have tried the Arbonne shakes and love them. However, they are a little expensive, so at the moment, I am drinking the Weight Watchers chocolate shakes. Whatever shake you decide on, make sure to check the nutrition. Choose something with low calories and sugar!
3. Drink low/no-calorie mixins
Water is important, but it doesn’t taste the best. Low or No-Calorie mixins really improve the taste of water to make it bearable. Instead of ordering a lemonade, juice, or soda with your water, take 17 oz of cold water and mix in a pack of a drink mix like Crystallite.
Arbonne also has an option for these great little packets called Fizz Sticks. It’s like a bubble juice that’s good for you! Both have products that are low calorie and add to your water count. After drinking one of those with each meal, you’ve already added 54 oz. of water towards your total. This is the perfect way to sneak water into your day!
4. Powdered supplements/detoxes
The Arbonne Challenge I did April 2020 came with a lot of supplements and detoxes that I mixed in with water. These detoxes really helped with digestion and the wellbeing of my GI tract. One of their items, the Digestion Plus was really good for jump starting my digestion! These are great options, or something with a similar function. This way, not only are you managing to sneak water into your day, but you’re always helping to regulate your systems.
If you don’t want to do a dietary supplement, you could always do an immune system booster. Emergen-C or Airborne are two great powdered supplements packed with a lot of vitamins to help strengthen your defenses. Once again, you’re able to sneak water into your day while also adding some nutrition to your body.
5. Sneak in water before every meal
Drinking a glass of water before every meal helps you sneak water into your day, and also may help you lose weight. When you drink water before a meal, it creates this feeling of fullness that may aid in eating smaller portions. It’s also just a quick way to add some needed water to your daily total. An 8 oz. glass should be exactly what you need. Three of these and you add a whopping 24 oz. to your daily water intake.
6. Sneak in water by working out
Nothing in the world compares to busting your a** at the gym and then rewarding yourself with a glass of ice cold water. Water during a workout hits different. It’s refreshing and boosts your energy while you’re going hard, working towards your goals. Exercising makes you crave and drink water. It’s a little trick of our bodies to tell us “HELLO! I’M PARCHED OVER HERE!” Taking a 20 oz. water bottle to the gym and drinking a couple of those during and after your workout can add anywhere from 40-60 oz. of water.
